No more Colbert on GooTube?

The good folks at Viacom have sent our friends at GooTube a cease and desist letter, demanding that the service remove 100,000 video clips of the company’s shows. As of this posting Google has desisted from ceasing.
The letter covers everything from MTV to Comedy Central and they are demanding that it get done by this afternoon. Viacom is of course upset that they havent been cut in on the billions of Google goodness that YouTube got by making the clips people wanted easily available when, where and how they wanted them. It seems very unlikely that Viacom’s doing more then saber rattling but if things go south you may no longer be able to watch your favorite Colbert clips on GooTube. They used to play so nicely together and someone hasnt bothered to other Viacom companies. Lets all hope it doesnt come to that. Variety has the full story.
